Overview

Embark on an exciting 2-day trekking adventure that will take you to explore two of Bariloche's most iconic refuges: Refugio López and Refugio Manfredo Segre. This experience is perfect for those seeking breathtaking landscapes and a rewarding challenge.

Day 1: Refugio López The first section of the trek follows alongside the creek, where you’ll soon start a steep ascent to Refugio López. After approximately an hour of hiking, you’ll reach Refugio Roca Negra. Here, navigate around the refuge and follow the trail markers, crossing Arroyo López, which may require wading depending on water levels.

From Refugio López, continue your ascent to La Hoya and Pico Turista at 2,060 meters above sea level. This section is technical with loose rocks and steep gradients, so be cautious and use your hands for support when necessary. At the end of the day, you'll stay at the cozy Refugio López, enjoying a hearty dinner and a restful night in a stunning mountainous setting.

Day 2: Refugio Manfredo Segre After a hearty breakfast, you’ll tackle the most technical section of the trek. From Refugio López, ascend to the ridge of Cerro López, paying close attention to the trail markers and loose stones. This steep section requires careful navigation and sometimes using your hands for support.

From the ridge, start your descent into a valley where a stream, a tributary of Arroyo Goye, begins. Cross the valley and climb up to Cerro Bailey Willis, following its ridge until you spot Laguna Negra. On its shores, you'll find Refugio Manfredo Segre, also known as Refugio Italia, where you can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner in an impressive setting.

Day 3 Return: After breakfast at Refugio Manfredo Segre, you will begin your return.
