Day trekking to Otto Meiling refuge

The trail starts a few meters from the Pampa Linda Ranger Station and follows a nearly flat path for about 3 kilometers, leading you to the bridge over the Castaño Overa River.

From the bridge, you'll begin a 6-kilometer ascent with a 500-meter elevation gain to reach "La Almohadilla," a summit offering panoramic views. From there, the trail continues with a gentler slope towards the "Descanso de los Caballos," located right at the edge of the vegetation.

The final part of the route involves a 2-kilometer ascent with a 350-meter elevation gain along a vegetation-free ridge, following paint marks on the rocks. Upon reaching Refugio Otto Meilling, situated nearly 2,000 meters above sea level between the Castaño Overa and Alerce glaciers, you'll enjoy a food service corresponding to the trekking schedule.

After a well-deserved rest and time to admire the surroundings, you'll return to Pampa Linda.
