Overview

Day 1: Exploring the Ujenco Valley

Our adventure begins with a trek through the stunning Ujenco Valley, gently ascending alongside the stream that accompanies us throughout the journey. We'll encounter a precarious log bridge at one point. We will assess its safety; if necessary, we will cross the stream directly.

After about three hours of hiking, we'll pause for lunch in a picturesque spot in the valley. We’ll continue ascending slightly until we reach the Collado de las Tres Nacientes. From here, we'll descend to our campsite at Tapera de los Lagos, completing approximately 6 hours of trekking.

  • Distance: 12 km
  • Elevation Gain: +660 m / -340 m
  • Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Difficulty: Medium-high
  • Meals: Lunch and dinner
  • Overnight Stay: Tapera de los Lagos (campsite)

Day 2: Descent to Arroyo Las Viejas

On the second day, we’ll descend towards the confluence of the Cataratas and the stream from Tapera. This section includes four river crossings, so having suitable footwear is essential. Upon reaching the confluence, we will enjoy lunch around midday.

We’ll then continue with eleven more river crossings, which will lead us out of the stream's course and bring us to the left bank of the Cataratas, near Arroyo Las Viejas. We expect to reach our destination around 4:00 PM, concluding this exhilarating trek.

  • Distance: 14 km
  • Elevation Gain: +110 m / -660 m
  • Duration: 6-7 hours
  • Difficulty: Medium-high
  • Meals: Breakfast and lunch
