Overview

Day 1: Exploration and Initial Ascent

Our adventure begins on the first day at 10:00 AM at Puerto de Bandurrias, where we will meet Juan Carlos Martínez, who will take us on a scenic boat transfer. This transfer will allow us to enjoy panoramic views of the surroundings, and we will start our trekking around 10:30 AM.

The trail will guide us to the refuge, a hike that will take between 2 to 3 hours. Upon reaching the refuge, we will have a well-deserved break for lunch. If weather conditions permit, in the afternoon we will explore the Pico Refugio, located about 2 hours from the refuge. In total, we will cover approximately 7 km, with a positive elevation gain of 870 meters. As night falls, we will enjoy a dinner at the refuge, prepared using traditional wood-fired cooking, providing a warm end to the day.

Day 2: Ascent to the Main Summit

On the second day, breakfast will be served at 9:00 AM at the refuge. At 10:00 AM, we will start our hike towards the mountain ridge, heading for the main summit of Cerro Dormilón. This stage of the trek requires about 3 hours of walking, covering a distance of 8 km round trip, with a positive elevation gain of 400 meters.

After reaching the main summit and enjoying the stunning views, we will return to the refuge to pack our gear and begin our descent. We plan to be back at Puerto de Bandurrias around 5:00 PM. Alternatively, you may choose to take a shorter excursion to a nearby waterfall close to the refuge, to complete an unforgettable experience amidst the natural beauty of Patagonia.
